Great Pumpkin Give-a-Wey is October 14th at Weymouth High School

Weymouth, MA – Mayor Robert Hedlund announced today that the Town of Weymouth’s 10th Annual Great Pumpkin Give-a-Wey will take place Saturday, October 14th, 2017, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the grounds of the Weymouth High School. Residents who make a donation to any one of dozens of local nonprofit organizations at the event will receive a free ticket to pick a pumpkin from the Town’s pumpkin patch (while supplies last).    

“Thousands of residents look forward to the Great Pumpkin Give-a-Wey every year, because it’s a chance to get out, to have fun, and to celebrate as a community,” said Mayor Robert Hedlund. “We are thrilled to provide the event, and I thank the Town’s Community Events Committee as well as my staff for making it possible.”

The Great Pumpkin Give-a-Wey is a decade-old tradition that began as a low-cost outing for families and quickly grew into one of the Town’s largest events, attracting upwards of 5,000 attendees each year. Festivities are organized annually by the Town’s Community Events Committee, with support from the Mayor’s office staff.

Residents can enjoy the following activities at this year’s Great Pumpkin Give-a-Wey:

  • Music by The New Band and D.J. Quintiliani
  • Amusements and inflatables
  • Tables for local nonprofits and businesses
  • Roaming Railroad
  • Hayrides
  • New England Aquarium’s Traveling Tidepool
  • Joe’s Crazzy Critters
  • ‘Touch a Truck’ display
  • Corvette car show
  • Public safety demonstrations
  • Food court

For adults and children ages 11 and older, there will be a bubble soccer tournament at the Weymouth High School football stadium. Children ages 11 to 17 years must have a guardian present to sign a waiver onsite. Sign up is first come, first serve. The play schedule is as follows:

  • Ages 11 to 14 years, 12:00 pm to 1:20 pm
  • Ages 15 to 17 years, 1:20 pm to 2:40 pm
  • Ages 18 years and older, 2:40 pm to 4:00 pm     

Parking for the Great Pumpkin Give-a-Wey is available onsite at no charge. Handicapped parking and reasonable accommodations are available upon request.
