In 1996 the Weymouth Board of Selectmen signed a 10 year contract with AT&T Broadband to provide the community with cable television service. As part of this contract, a non-profit organization, the Weymouth Educational Telecommunications Corporation, Inc. (WETC) was established to provide Weymouth cable subscribers with a locally based educational cable channel.

A five-member board of directors oversees the production and finances of WETC.  Under its direction, a crew of directors and producers are tasked with developing educational and government based programming that keeps residents informed about their town.

Since 1997 the staff at WETC has worked with town administrators and personnel to educate the public on a variety of topics such as public safety, town history, public education, as well as organizations and development within the town.
