Healthy Dining Program

Weymouth’s Healthy Dining Program collaborates with local restaurants to make healthy food choices available to customers.  By offering healthy entrées and side dishes, local restaurants are able to make a positive impact on the health of the community at large.

In order to qualify, restaurants must offer a variety of healthier options: at least two sides of fruit and/or vegetables at no extra cost, substitution of a salad or other vegetables for fries, one non-fried chicken or fish entrée, one vegetarian entrée, low fat (1%) milk or skim milk as a beverage, smaller portion sizes or half meals to-go, and designated low-fat, low-calorie, and low-sodium items.

Three easy ways to eat better are to first, add fruits and vegetables to your meals – they’re low in calories and packed with nutrients. Second, rethink your drink – cutback on soda and sugary drinks and try water, seltzer, or low/non-fat milk. Lastly, right size your portions – choose the smaller size or half meal to-go.
