Historical Records Assessment

The Weymouth Historical Commission was awarded a Documentary Heritage Grant by the Massachusetts Historical Records Advisory Board (MHRAB) to assist the Town in documenting, cataloguing, assessing, recommending preservation methods for, and educating the public about a wide variety of historical records held by several Town Departments. The WHC engaged the services of consultants to prepare a report called the “Weymouth Historical Records Assessment” containing written site-specific inventories, “Recommendations for Preservation of Historical Records” and a “Community Awareness Plan.” Among the records reviewed were those held by the Town Hall, the Library, the Fire and Police Departments, the Department of Public Works, the School Department, several area churches, and societies.
