In an effort to improve the sewer service in the Town of Weymouth, the Department of Public Works will be installing cured-in-place liners in sewers in select areas of town. The town’s Contractor, National Water Main Cleaning Company (NWMCC), will be performing the work from Monday, April 6, 2020 to May 30, 2020.
Lining of sewer mains will be performed in select sections of sewer on the following streets: Bald Eagle Road, Bengal Road, Black Hawk Road, Bluefield Terrace, Bradford Road, Branch Road, Cherry Lane, Chisholm Road, Constitution Avenue, Courier Street, Dacia Drive, Delia Walker Avenue, Edward Cody Lane, Hickory Lane, Leahaven Road, Lintric Drive, Merrymount Road, Park Avenue, Ranger Circle, Red Jacket Road, Reed Avenue, and Vinson Street.
During this work, water use will need to be limited while the liner is installed and until your sewer service is reinstated. Properties where sewer service will be affected will have a notification with detailed information regarding water usage placed on your door one week prior to the sewer lining in your area and again 24-hours prior to the lining. The temporary disruption of sewer services will only last for approximately eight hours in each location. Once lining of the sewer section in your area is completed, there will not be a further disruption to your sewer service during this project.
During portions of the work, odors from the lining may be detected. Odors are most likely to occur in properties with dry plumbing traps. In most cases, pouring several gallons of water into sinks, toilets, showers and floor drains minimize or eliminate a path for any odors to enter the building. Plumbing fixtures that are used on a regular basis should have a sufficient amount of water in the plumbing trap to prevent odors from entering. If odors do enter your building, please notify the field personnel for assistance.
The Town of Weymouth Department of Public Works thanks you for your cooperation and apologizes in advance for any inconvenience during this time. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact the Department of Public Works at (781) 337-5100.
