Traffic Notification – Pleasant St/Libbey Industrial Parkway

J.F. Price Co. and Charles Contracting Co. have begun work on the Project to improve and signalize the Pleasant Street/ Libbey Industrial Parkway intersection, and extend Libbey Industrial Parkway easterly.

New utility poles have been placed and the utility companies are in the process of relocating wires from the old poles and will ultimately remove the old poles to enable street widening.

Starting on or about August 9 and through the rest of the summer, street widening at the intersection, new curb placement, and sidewalk construction will take place.  Trenches will be excavated across the streets for traffic signal conduit installation.  Occupation of one travel lane during daytime hours is expected to be common.  Two-way traffic will be maintained under police control most of the time.  However, occasional alternating traffic flow might be necessary, resulting in delay.

Variable message sign boards are in place to advise motorists of road conditions as they develop.

Around the early part of September, the top course of pavement will be milled at the intersection, traffic sensors will be installed in the roadway, and new pavement will be applied.  This work is likely to require alternating traffic flow, resulting in delays.  Signs will advise motorists of this condition, and police will control traffic.  Some of this work is expected to be done during overnight hours when traffic volume is lower and most businesses are closed.  Traffic signals will be installed and activated at this time.

Work should be completed by mid to late October.

The work schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
