Active Town/School Employees, Retiree and Survivor Benefits
The Town of Weymouth offers health, Mass4You, dental, vision, life, flex spending and Life Plus insurance benefits to benefit eligible employees. All employees have access to the Employee Assistance Plan (EAP).The Town of Weymouth offers health, dental and vision to benefit eligible retirees.
Annual Open Enrollment for health, dental and vision is held in April each year for eligible active employees, retirees and survivors.
Annua l Open Enrollment for life, flex spending and Life Plus insurance benefits is held in November each year for eligible active employees.
If you have a change of address or a name change your must fill the Payroll change form and the forms associated with the benefits you carry with the town. When submitting the forms to your HR Representative, please submit the appropriate back up if needed.
Eligibility:
Active employees - an Active Employee must work a minimum of 20 hours per week and actively contribute to the Weymouth Contributory Retirement System or Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System. New employees eligible for benefits are effective the first of the month following 60 days of continued employment. Existing employees eligible for benefits may enroll in benefits within 60 days of a qualifying event (with a loss of coverage notice) or during annual enrollment.
Retiree - a Retiree is eligible if they are actively receiving a pension from the Weymouth Contributory Retirement System or Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System.
The Annual Open Enrollment for flex spending, life insurance and Life Plus insurance is held in October each year for eligible employees only.

Please note the following:
-Forms submitted to add members to your health insurance plan must be accompanied by required documents (marriage certificate to add a spouse, long form birth certificate to add a dependent child, birth certificate or notice of birth to add a newborn).
-Dependents 19-26 are allowed health insurance as a dependent, a Dependent 19+ form must be submitted to confirm status.
-If you are enrolling due to a qualifying event; a loss of coverage letter from the previous business or carrier stating names of all covered and date of loss must be included with the form and back up information. You can enroll in health coverage, within 60 days of the loss of coverage.
-If you are dropping coverage outside of Open Enrollment; you must provide notification of coverage from the business or carrier enrolling you/your family in coverage listing each member on your plan and the date you are being enrolled. If you withdraw coverage, the GIC will cancel you the last day of the month they receive the paperwork. Your payroll deduction will continue until the Town receives a confirmation from the GIC that they have canceled your insurance.

Term Life Insurance information
- Basic life Insurance, value of $3000
- Choose Voluntary insurance between $10,000 and $500,000 to a maximum of seven times your salary
- Spousal coverage available at a guarantee issue between $10,000 and $30,000
- Dependent coverage available at a flat rate for all dependent children under the age of 19 or 24 if a full time student, value of 10,000 and each dependent can be converted to a personal policy at age of graduation.

CAFETERIA PLAN ADVISORS (FLEXIBLE SPENDING - MEDICAL OR DEPENDENT CARE)
The Town of Weymouth and Weymouth Public Schools are offered Medical and Dependent Care Spending through our third party administrator, Cafeteria Plan Advisors. The plan runs from January through December each year. The benefit must be renewed each year during Open Enrollment that is held in November. |
Medical and Dependent Care Spending
Medical Care Spending: lets you set aside a portion of your paycheck tax free to pay for certain health and dependent care expenses. Contributions are deducted from your paycheck prior to federal, state and social security taxes. The maximum enrollment amount per calendar year is $2500.
Dependent Care Spending: A Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account will let you set aside a portion of your paycheck tax free to pay for dependent care expenses (IRS regulations allow up to $5,000.00 per calendar year per family). Contributions are deducted from your paycheck prior to federal, state and social security tax.
