Weymouth and DCR to dedicate Kibby Property park connection at Abigail Adams State Park

Weymouth, MA – The Town of Weymouth’s Department of Planning and Community Development announced today dedication plans for the Kibby Property – a 1.3-acre park connection developed as an addition to the Back River reservation in North Weymouth. The land, previously owned by Richard Kibby, abuts Abigail Adams State Park to the east and was acquired in a true conservation partnership between the Town of Weymouth and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

The Kibby Property features waterfront trails connecting directly to the 7.6-acre promontory at Abigail Adams State Park. The new park connection protects 230 feet of natural shoreline, expands the area of contiguous open space at Abigail Adams State Park by over 10 percent, and enhances wildlife value and opportunities for passive recreation in Weymouth.

The Kibby Property Dedication will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, with parking available at Abigail Adams State Park off Bridge Street (Route 3A) in North Weymouth.
