Notice of Delinquent Real Estate Taxes

The Tax Title Lien Properties List represents the Town of Weymouth's list of secured rights to unpaid property taxes through a tax lien process and is subject to change.  Each parcel on this list owing property taxes has had a lien recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds, after being properly advertised in the legal notice section of the Town's local newspaper, in Town Hall, and in Town libraries.

The Town of Weymouth lists these properties only after all means of notice and attempts to collect have been exhausted.

This process followed the normal course of quarterly billing, end of fiscal year demand, and notices of warrant from our deputy tax collector.  Bills were issued to the "owner of record" according to the Assessor's records, as of January 1st of the preceding calendar year.  According to MGL Chp. 60§3, failure to send or receive a bill "...shall not affect the validity either of a tax or of the proceedings for its collection."  In recent years, subsequent fiscal years' tax bills have been marked to alert taxpayers of prior year balances.

The list has been prepared in order of map, block and lot, with the owner of record.  This list will be updated as taxes are paid and new liens are recorded.  The amount listed is the unpaid principal balance only.  Interest, penalties and fees are in addition and are also owed.

The Town of Weymouth intends to assign and transfer the Tax Titles held to the highest bidder at public auction for all taxes thereon with interest and all necessary and intervening charges, unless those amounts have been paid in full before the date of auction.  Public auction to be scheduled.
