Birth Certificates

If you were born in Weymouth or your parents were residents of Weymouth at the time of your birth, you may obtain your birth certificate at the Town Clerk’s Office or at the Massachusetts Registry of Vital Records and Statistics:

How do I get a copy of a birth certificate from Weymouth Town Hall?
You can obtain a copy of your birth certificate in two ways:

By physically entering the Town Clerk's Office or you can request a copy by mail.

If you request a birth certificate by mail you must include the following:

  1. State the full name and date of birth of the person you are requesting a birth certificate for.
  2. If your parents were not married at the time of your birth, please include a copy of your photo ID.
  3. Your check or money order should be made payable to:
    Town of Weymouth. Birth certificates are: $10.00 for each copy.
  4. Enclose the payment along with your written request and a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Is an ID necessary?

Usually identification is not necessary; however, in certain circumstances it is required, for example, if your parents were not married at the time of your birth.

Are Birth Certificates public records?
Unless your parents were not married at the time of your birth, birth certificates are available to any member of the public.
