Pandemic EBT Program: Additional Food Support During COVID-19

If you have a child in pre-k - grade 12, you may be receiving P-EBT funds. Eligible families are receiving funds on an EBT card which can be used to purchase food while schools are closed.

All MA families with school-aged children who are eligible for free or reduced price school meals, or who attend a school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch will receive P-EBT. Families will receive $5.70 per child, per school day on an EBT card, while schools are closed. P-EBT benefits are available to households regardless of immigration status and are not considered in a public charge test. For more details visit www.map-ebt.org/

If you currently receive SNAP and/or TAFDC benefits and have an EBT card, P-EBT funds will be added to your card. Families who do not have an EBT card will receive a P-EBT card for each eligible child in the mail. Funds will be loaded in May and reloaded for a 2nd issuance of benefits at a later date, so keep your card(s).

P-EBT funds can be used to purchase food wherever EBT benefits are accepted. Look for signs that say, "We accept EBT". Visit www.fns.usda.gov/snap for more information on participating retailers and eligible food items.

School meal sites will continue to provide free meals for kids and teens. P-EBT benefits are in addition to this. Families are encouraged to use both resources.

If you are a family enrolled in free or reduced price meals or attend a school where all students receive free school meals, you do not need to apply. If you are not currently enrolled in SNAP or receiving free or reduced-price school meals, but believe you may be eligible, please call Project Bread's FoodSource Hotline 1-800-645-8333 or visit www.projectbread.org/covid19 to explore your options
