This is a free modified version of the popular PaddleSmartprogram offered by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. This discussion is geared to recreational paddlers (canoes and kayaks.).

The topical discussion will include an introduction to safe paddling for canoes and kayaks. The use of a float plan, safety equipment, cold water immersion, paddling with a buddy, and safety checklist.

Waypoints

This is a free modified version of the popular Waypoints course offered by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in partnership with the Army Corps of Engineers. This discussion is geared to youth in grades 4-6, the 10-12 year-old age range.

The topical discussion will include an introduction to parts of a boat, life jackets, float plans, distress signaling, basic navigational lighting, personal watercraft (e.g. jet skies, canoes, and kayaks.) The discussion will also include cold water immersion, and course booklet.
