Benefits Decision Guide

Health Insurance 
The Town of Weymouth, through the Group Insurance Commission (GIC), offers 11 Health Options within 6 different Insurance Carriers. If you are a transfer from another Municipal Town or State Office and were enrolled in coverage through the GIC, you may be considered as a transfer.

The Town contributes 82.25% of the HMO/PPO, health insurance premiums, the employee contributes 17.75%. As for the Indemnity Plans, the Town contributes 80% of the health insurance premiums, and the employee contributes 20%. Employees may enroll on the 1st of the month following 60 days of consecutive employment. Premiums are due a month in advance (i.e., December health insurance contribution covers the month of January).

EyeMed

Dental Insurance 
The Town of Weymouth offers a voluntary dental plan through Sun Life Financial to benefit eligible* employees. We offer two plans, Enhanced and Basic.  Both plans offer a $1,500 in network maximum and $1,000 out of network maximum per annual calendar year. Allowance is per member and full-time student coverage to age 24, with dependent certification approval.  Click the links below for additional information on each plan.

Employees may enroll on the 1st of the month following 60 days of consecutive employment. Deductions will be withdrawn automatically. An enrollment form may be obtained through the Human Resource Department.

Life Insurance
The Town of Weymouth provides a Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance policy, through The Standard Life Insurance Company, in the amount of $3,000 for benefti eligible* employees.

Employees may purchase voluntary coverage in addition to basic coverage, which is available in $5,000 increments up to a maximum of $100,000.

in addition to Basic employees may also purchase Dependent coverage for a spouse in the amount of $5000 and/or dependents up to the age of 22 if a full time student in the amount of $2000.  Dependent coverage costs $1 / week.

The Town contributes 2/3 and the employee contributes 1/3. Deductions will be withdrawn automatically. Employees must complete a Group Life Insurance Application form and designate a beneficiary(ies) at the time of enrollment.

In the event that an employee does not elect to have insurance, an insurance waiver form must be completed.

*Please note the additional coverage over $5000 is allowable up to the age of 70, if chosen at the age of 70 coverage will be dropped to $5000 as long as the premium is paid. Those employees covered under the Weymouth Contributory Retirement are allowed to transfer coverage over to retirement.

The Town of Weymouth offers Medical/Dental spending up to $2500 per calendar year; and Dependent Day care up to $5000 per calendar year, for benefit eligible* employees This services is provided through Cafeteria Plan Advisors, Inc. in Braintree MA.  Click here to be linked to their site.

*Any regular status employee (elected officials, not appointed officials) who works a minimum of 18.75 hours per week is consdered eligible to enroll in an insurance program. Enrollment will be effective on the 1st of the month following 60 days of consecutive benefit eligilble employment.  Certain conditions may apply to Health coverage. Flexible Spending

The Town of Weymouth offers a voluntary benefit of Permanent Life Insurance, Cancer Expense Plan, Disabliity Insurance, Accident Insurance and Critical Illness through payroll deduction.  For more infomation please visit their webiste at www.lpins.com, or call 781-837-9222.

Sick Time

Deferred Compensation
The Town of Weymouth offers a 457 deferred compensation program to help employees pursue their financial goals. Employees may invest pre-taxed dollars through payroll deductions. Employees may select from several different investment accounts.

Retirement 
All regular status employees working 20+ hours per week are required to enroll in the Town of Weymouth’s retirement plan. Employees that contribute into the Town system will become eligible for retirement allowances and other benefits upon retirement from public service as outlined in MA General Law Chapter 32. Employee Assistance

The Town of Weymouth offers employees and their families continuation of medical , through the GIC and dental insurance coverage in certain instances where coverage under the plan would otherwise end, in accordance with the Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1985.

Direct Deposit

The Town of Weymouth requires the use of direct deposit for all employees unless otherwise stated in a collective bargaining agreement. This benefit allows you to have your paycheck deposited electronically to any bank account(s) YOU specify. There are no restrictions on your choice of financial institutions.
