Preliminary work to continue at Bradford Hawes Park

The Department of Planning and Community Development would like to thank all residents who attended and participated in the public meeting held on Wednesday, August 27, at Bradford Hawes Park.  An active and engaged community is important to the success of any local project, but this is especially true for neighborhood playgrounds.  The Planning Department will continue to accept public comments through the end of business day, Friday, August 29, 2014.  Click here to send comments by email.

Since the close of the public meeting, the Weymouth Department of Public Works (DPW) has continued to move forward with preliminary measures to prepare the park for renovations.  Because this is a time sensitive project, such measures are best completed early in the planning and construction process so as not to delay the implementation of final improvements.

Please be aware that it is the intention of the Town of Weymouth to deconstruct and remove the current play structure located on Bradford Hawes Park effective today, Friday, August 29, 2014.  This again is a preliminary measure to prepare the grounds of the play area for total renovation.  The purchase of new play equipment will begin in the week immediately following the close of public comments.  We apologize for any inconvenience that the deconstruction of the current play structure might have.  This measure was delayed so as to correspond as closely as possible with the start of the public school year.  It was the intention of the Planning Department to minimize the impact on the play activities of school age children during the summer months.  The swings adjacent to play area will remain available for the time being.
