Weymouth Food Pantry organizes the Fresh Bite 5K for June 20
The Weymouth Food Pantry is giving people who love to run or walk an opportunity to turn out for an important cause: ending hunger in Weymouth. The Fresh Bite 5K will take place on June 20th at 8:30 a.m. (check-in from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.) at DCR’s Wompatuck State Park. The 5k is a professionally-timed event for all ages. The park's paved trail is suitable for tennis shoes, strollers and paws. Participants can register to run or walk online at www.freshbite5k.org. Register as an individual or create a team with your family, organization, company or neighborhood.
About 600 economically-distressed families seek out the Weymouth Food Pantry each month to help make ends meet. While the economy has improved for some, those at the bottom are still experiencing a lot of challenges. Money raised from the 5k will help the Food Pantry keep shelves stocked with fresh produce for families in need.
