Columbian Square Improvement Project Anticipated Construction Schedule: March 25 – 29, 2024

Beginning on Monday, March 25, 2024, the Contractor is scheduled to continue with the installation of the curbing and sidewalks on both sides of Pleasant Street, from Blanchard Street to the intersection of Pleasant Street, Columbian Street and Union Street. “Spot” No Parking Zones will be in place during construction, affecting multiple parking spaces at each work site (detailed below). Please anticipate that there will be parking disruptions in Columbian Square while this work is underway. Parking will be available in the municipal parking lot, located off of Chauncy Street and Camelot Street. Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout all this work with the assistance of the Weymouth Police Details.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday (3/26 – 3/27), crews will be working on installing curbing and sidewalk from Wilbur Street to the intersection of Pleasant Street, Columbian Street and Union Street.

Thursday through Friday (3/28 – 3/29), crews will continue on Pleasant Street and also will move back to Columbian Street to begin installing sidewalks from the ambulance entrance of the South Shore Hospital to the intersection of Columbian, Union and Pleasant Street(s).

There will also be a utility crew working Monday through Friday (3/25 – 3/29) to install conduit for new street lighting.

To reduce impacts, it is encouraged that motorists seek alternate routes and expect brief traffic delays to facilitate efficient work and follow posted detour signage and instructions from the Police Detail Officers. Ambulances and school buses will be given priority access through the work zone.
