Columbian Square Improvement Project Anticipated Construction Schedule: April 8 – 12, 2024
On Monday, April 8, 2024, the Contractor will start pouring new concrete sidewalks on Pleasant Street (on both sides of Tower Avenue), this work will progress towards Torrey Street in front of C.C. Shepherd’s Funeral Home. Crews will also be preparing for new sidewalk on Columbian Street between Fogg Road and the emergency ambulance entrance. This work is anticipated to continue through Friday, April 12, 2024. Ambulances and school buses will be given priority access through the work zone. Two-way vehicular traffic will be maintained throughout the work zone. Parking in this area will be limited as work progresses.
** Please note, there will be a temporary period when all pedestrian traffic will need to be kept off the newly poured concrete until it sets properly. **
Crews will begin preparing for the installation of new sidewalk on Pleasant Street between Wilbur Street and the Post Office. This work will continue throughout the entire week.
Extra parking will be available in the municipal parking lot, located off Chauncy Street and Camelot Street. To reduce impacts, it is encouraged that motorists seek alternate routes and expect brief traffic delays to facilitate efficient work and follow posted detour signage and instructions from the Police Detail Officers.
