Columbian Square Improvement Project Weekly Anticipated Construction Schedule: October 16 – 20, 2023
Beginning on Monday, October 16, 2023, construction crews are anticipated to resume the full-depth roadway reconstruction of Pleasant Street. While disruptions are inevitable, the full-depth roadway reconstruction will be phased in such a manner as to minimize inconvenience to residents and businesses in the work zone. This work is scheduled to continue in the intersection of Pleasant Street, Columbian Street and Union Street. A 2-Way traffic management plan will be maintained with lanes shifting throughout the week. Crews will proceed east on Pleasant Street toward #134 Pleasant Street (C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home). Weymouth Police Details will assist all pedestrian traffic at street crossings in the work zone.
Construction Impacts: To reduce impacts as much as possible, it is encouraged that motorists seek alternate routes and expect brief traffic delays to facilitate efficient work and follow posted detour signage and instructions from the Police Detail Officers that will be present. Please be aware that roadway travel will be on gravel areas in certain locations and use caution traveling through this area. This work will be segmented, and sections of Pleasant Street will be reopened as new asphalt cures. Parking may become unavailable in some areas as work progresses.
The entire roadway reconstruction process is planned to be completed by early-to-mid- November 2023, weather permitting. Ambulances and school buses will be given priority access through the work zone. Police detail officers will be on site to facilitate safe pedestrian and vehicle movements throughout the project area.
