Columbian Square Improvement Project Weekly Anticipated Construction Schedule: October 30 – November 3, 2023

Beginning on Monday, October 30, 2023, construction crews are anticipated to recommence full-depth excavation work from the intersection of Columbian Street and Pleasant Street to the front of the Cameo Theater (approximately #14 Columbian Street). This work is expected to last throughout the entire week and will likely utilize a DETOUR to direct westbound traffic on Columbian Street down Torrey Street, onto Burton Terrace and back onto Columbian Street.

Crews will also be working throughout Pleasant Street to raise casting on sewer and water infrastructure for maintenance access throughout the winter. This work will not require any detours, and a two-way traffic management plan will be maintained with lanes shifting throughout the week. Weymouth Police Details will assist all pedestrians at street crossings in the work zone. Roadway paving in this area is scheduled to take place on Monday, November 6, 2023.

To reduce impacts as much as possible, it is encouraged that motorists seek alternate routes and expect brief traffic delays to facilitate efficient work. Follow posted detour signage and instructions from the Police Detail Officers that will be present. Parking may become unavailable in some areas as work progresses. Temporary NO PARKING signs will be installed and any vehicles parking in this area will be ticketed and towed. Available parking will be located at the Municipal Town Parking lot off Chauncy Street and Camelot Way.

The entire roadway reconstruction process is planned to be completed by early-to-mid- November 2023, weather permitting. Ambulances and school buses will be given priority access through the work zone. Police detail officers will be on site to facilitate safe pedestrian and vehicle movements throughout the project area.
