Columbian Square Improvement Project Weekly Anticipated Construction Schedule

Beginning on Monday, November 13, 2023, construction crews are scheduled to complete permanent asphalt patching at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Wilbur Street. This work will not require any detours, and a two-way traffic pattern will be maintained.

From November 14th –17th, permanent asphalt patching work will move to Columbian Street, between Fogg Road and Burton Terrace. This work will require a detour for northbound traffic on Columbian Street. Northbound traffic will be detoured west on Pleasant Street, then right on Main Street (Route 18), then right onto Columbian Street. Southbound traffic will be maintained. Please note, there will be no curbside parking on Columbian Street while this work is underway. Temporary “NO PARKING” signs will be installed and any vehicles parking in this area will be ticketed and towed. Available parking will be located at the Municipal Town Parking lot off Chauncy Street and Camelot Way.

Beginning on Monday, November 13, 2023, a secondary crew will be in the same area raising water and sewer castings for access for maintenance. The same work crew is scheduled to begin installing conduits for traffic signals and street lighting on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. This work is anticipated to last throughout the week. A detour will not be required, however, to reduce impacts as much as possible, it is encouraged that motorists seek alternate routes and expect brief traffic delays to facilitate efficient work. Follow posted detour signage and instructions from the Police Detail Officers. The entire roadway reconstruction process is planned to be completed by mid-November 2023, weather permitting. Ambulances and school buses will be given priority access through the work zone.
