Columbian Square Improvement Project Weekly Anticipated Construction Schedule: December 4 – 8, 2023
Monday, December 4, 2023: The Contractor is scheduled to install sidewalk curbing starting at the intersection of Columbian Street and Burton Terrace. While crews are working on the installation of curbing, one side of the sidewalk will be CLOSED, leaving the opposite side of the street open to pedestrian traffic. This work is scheduled to take place on Columbian Street and proceed east along Pleasant Street toward Tower Avenue during the entire week. “Spot” No Parking zones will be in place during work, affecting multiple parking spaces at each work site. Two-way vehicular traffic will be maintained through the work zone. Access to storefronts shall be maintained during curbing installation but will briefly be disabled as work progresses directly in front of each building. Direct abutters will be given advance notice when crews are expected to install curbing at the location of their property.
Beginning Monday, December 4, 2023, another crew will be working at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Union Street to continue to install the electrical conduit for traffic signals. A detour will not be required for this work, however, to reduce impacts, it is encouraged that motorists seek alternate routes and expect brief traffic delays to facilitate efficient work and follow posted detour signage and instructions from the Police Detail Officers. Ambulances and school buses will be given priority access through the work zone.
