Columbian Square Improvement Project Weekly Anticipated Construction Schedule: December 11 – 15, 2023
Beginning on Monday, December 11, 2023, the Contractor is scheduled to continue sidewalk preparation work on the east side of Columbian Street proceeding towards Burton Terrace. While crews are working on the installation of curbing, the opposite side of the street will remain open to pedestrian traffic. Sidewalk preparation work will also take place on the south side of Pleasant Street between Chauncy Street and Union Street, and from Pleasant Street to Camelot Way. “Spot” No Parking zones will be in place during work, affecting multiple parking spaces at each work site. A detour will not be necessary, and two-way vehicular traffic will be maintained throughout the work zone during the week. Access to storefronts shall be maintained but will briefly be disabled as work progresses directly in front of each building. Direct abutters will be given advance notice when crews are expected to be at their property.
During the week of December 11, 2023, another crew will be working at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Union Street to continue to work on electrical conduit installation. A detour will not be required for this work, however, to reduce impacts, it is encouraged that motorists seek alternate routes and expect brief traffic delays to facilitate efficient work and follow posted detour signage and instructions from the Police Detail Officers. Ambulances and school buses will be given priority access through the work zone.
