Incorporated in 1837, the Weymouth Irons Works was one of the largest manufacturers in Weymouth. As shown by the locations of the buildings on the map, Weymouth’s waterways were crucial to the operation of the Iron Works. By 1884, the company only manufactured nails. The company closed in 1886 after flood damage and increased competition from steel mills around the United States.
