Getting a Library Card

People may apply for a library card by filling out an application and presenting proof of residency. Children ages 11 and under must have a parent with proof of residency present to apply for a card. There is no charge for the first library card.

A person may only have one card within the OCLN network. The Weymouth card is accepted at all OCLN member libraries. If you already have an OCLN card, it is valid in Weymouth. If a card is lost, a replacement can be obtained for $2 with proper ID.

If you do not already have a card in the OCLN network and you are a resident of an OCLN member community, you may apply for an eCard.  An eCard number can be used to access our online databases and allows you to place holds on library materials. Once you have your eCard number, please be sure to visit your local library and have your eCard upgraded to a permanent library card within 60 days.

Borrowing from Weymouth Public Libraries

Anyone with a valid OCLN card may borrow materials from Weymouth Public Libraries. Click here to see the borrowing periods and renewals available for different things you can borrow. A Weymouth Public Libraries card also lets you borrow from other OCLN member libraries, either by visiting those libraries in person or by placing holds so that items are sent to Weymouth. Items from other are subject to the policies of the owning library, so some items may not be available to be borrowed by Weymouth Public Libraries patrons, may have different borrowing periods, and/or may have different fines and fees.

You can also borrow materials from other non-OCLN and/or out of state libraries by placing holds for them to be sent here. Click here for more information about this option.

Unless otherwise noted, items may be returned to any Weymouth Public Libraries location or to any other OCLN library. Weymouth Public Libraries does not charge overdue fines for its materials that are not returned on time. Other libraries may charged overdue fines on their own materials. Patrons with overdue Weymouth items will be sent three overdue notices and will be charged a replacement fee after 45 days.
