Comfort Room Policy

The Weymouth Public Libraries is committed to creating a welcoming environment for breastfeeding mothers. The comfort room, located in the Children’s Room at Tufts Library, is intended for use by patrons for the purpose of nursing, privately expressing breast milk, or calming small children and infants as needed. Nursing mothers are free to breastfeed their child/children throughout the library. The purpose of the Comfort Room is to provide privacy for those who require or prefer it.

The comfort room will be made available on a first come, first serve basis and may be used for private lactation, nursing, or calming children. The comfort room may not be used for any other reason and only one adult is permitted in the room at a time.

Caregivers using the comfort room must remain in direct supervision of all children who are with them or have another appropriate caregiver supervising the children. Staff has the discretionary authority to limit the number of children in the room.

All other Weymouth Public Libraries policies apply, including but not limited to the Appropriate Library Use Policy and the Safe Child Policy.
