Community Information Policy

The Weymouth Public Libraries provides digital displays at Tufts Library to showcase information about local community activities and events that support the educational, professional and recreational needs of the community. Tufts Library also has a Town of Weymouth information table for the passive distribution of non-library municipal materials. The posting of materials does not imply the Weymouth Public Libraries’ endorsement, nor does the Weymouth Public Libraries accept responsibility for the accuracy of the statements made in any materials. 

These library resources shall be used for the following types of information:

• Weymouth Public Libraries notices and events
• Forthcoming local educational, social, civic, charitable, cultural or recreational activities
• Information about not-for-profit organizations, groups, agencies or federal, state or local government agencies providing services to citizens
• Announcements detailing local community service or volunteer opportunities

All notices intended to be posted on Tufts Library’s digital display must contain the name and contact information of the sponsoring agency. All items will be reviewed by Reference staff for approval.

If approved, notices will be scanned and posted to digital displays, or, for non-library municipal materials, placed on the Information Table.

Items that are not approved will not be returned. Items displayed without authorization will be removed and discarded. 

Notices may also be dropped off at the branch libraries for display on bulletin boards at the discretion of the branch manager. If approved, they will be posted until the date of the event or 30 days, whichever comes first. Items that are not approved will not be returned.
