Wireless Internet Policy

As part of the Weymouth Public Libraries mission to serve the intellectual, cultural and recreational interests of the Town of Weymouth, wireless connection to the Internet is free for everyone to access at Tufts Library and all branch libraries. 

Public Library wireless networks are not secure: information sent to and from your device are at risk of being captured by others using certain software applications. We recommend that you do not transmit sensitive information (credit cards, passwords) while using the Weymouth Public Libraries’ wireless network. 

Use of the Weymouth Public Libraries’ wireless internet for any illegal or criminal purpose is prohibited, including but not limited to: 

• Transmission of threatening, harassing, defamatory or obscene materials.
• Unauthorized access to remote computer systems.
• Destruction of, damage to, or alteration of the equipment, software, or network security of the Weymouth Public Libraries.
• Accessing or sharing sexually explicit materials.
• Engaging in any activity which is deliberately or maliciously offensive, libelous or slanderous.
• Representing yourself as another person for the purpose of fraud or other illegal activity.
• Using the Weymouth Public Libraries internet system to upload, transmit, or post copyrighted or protected material and/or software to the Internet without the permission of the owner or person owning the copyright or other intellectual property rights in the transmitted materials. Downloading from the Internet copyrighted or other protected materials must be done with the express permission of the owner or otherwise authorized persons regarding copying, redistribution, modification, or publication.
• Distributing advertising, junk mail, or spam.

The Weymouth Public Libraries is not responsible for content accessed via the internet, and cannot confirm its accuracy or validity. 

Patrons assume all responsibility for their personal devices.
