Bridge Street/Bicknell Square Study

In the fall of 2023, Mayor Hedlund announced that the Town of Weymouth was awarded a Housing Choice Grant in the amount of $100,000 to provide funding related to a planning and zoning study for the Bridge Street/Route 3A corridor.

The scope of work for this project includes; a review of previous plans, reports and data, a market assessment, demographic profile, inventory of existing land uses and conditions along the corridor including Bicknell Square, as well as looking at transportation from the point of view of safety, access, parking and multi-modal and how route 3A can better function as a neighborhood connector. Also, a zoning analysis will be conducted with recommendations for new zoning.

An important part of this process for developing a plan for this corridor is having a robust, inclusive community engagement process. One element of this engagement is two Community Workshops.

The Town of Weymouth Planning Department hosted the first Community Workshop, as part of the Bridge Street Corridor and Bicknell Square Planning Study, on Thursday, March 21 at the Weymouth Senior Center at 182 Green Street at 6:30 pm. The presentation from the workshop can be found here: Click here for presentation.

In addition to this Community Meeting, the town is conducting a survey of residents about the future of the Bridge Street corridor and Bicknell Square, which can be accessed at https://bit.ly/3Tkkl5c

The planning study and traffic assessment are part of the Town’s commitment to continued improvements in North Weymouth.
