How can I determine if my property lies within a floodplain?

Floodplains include all special Flood Hazard Areas designated by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These hazards areas are identified on FEMA-approved Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs). To determine if a property lies within one of these areas, residents and business owners can use the free online FEMA Map Service Center. No login identification is required. Enter the property address on the left side of the website and click “Search” > “Retrieve Printed Panel” > “View”. If you are still unsure whether or not the property lies within a floodplain, please contact a Town Building Inspector in the Department of Municipal Licenses and Inspections (Building Department). The Building Department is responsible for the interpretation and enforcement of the Weymouth Zoning Ordinance. This includes the floodplain district (Article XII A). Please note that lien holders (e.g. mortgage lenders) may make their own determinations for flood insurance purposes.
